Ed Sheeran is leading this summer's British invasion with his latest album Multiply. His sophomore set debuted at number one on the Billboard album chart this week, opening with 210,000 copies sold.

Multiply brings Ed the best sales week of his career, and is also the largest debut for a pop album so far this year.  The last pop album with a bigger opening was One Direction's Midnight Memories last December.  Ed tweets that having an album at number one in America is "mental."

Holding as runner-up this week is Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour.  It marks the first time in more than 20 years that two male British solo acts have notched the top two spots.  Brits Sting and Eric Clapton dominated the chart back in 1993.
